چکیده
Measuring brain activity is at task generally left for EEG or fMRI. However, there is a lesser known imaging technique known as near infrared spectrophotometry, in which near infrared light is shown into the patients head to measure changes in oxygenation that directly relate to brain activity. This paper describes a low-cost, wireless, portable near infrared spectrophotometry system that is able to measure brain activity. The results show that not able is the system able to measure changes in brain activity relating to motor movement, visual stimulation, and intense thinking, it is also able to measure muscle activity.

Optical Imaging of the Motor Cortex in the Brain in Order to Determine the Direction of the Hand Movements Using Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS)
Introduction: In recent years, optical imaging has attracted a lot of attention from scholars as a non- aggressive, efficient method for evaluating the activities of the motor cortex in the brain. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS (is a tool showing the hemodynamic changes in a cortical area of the brain according to optical principles. The present study has been de...

The objective of this research was to improve 3-D imaging system by near-infrared light emission in breast tissue to achieve a more accurate diagnosis of tumor. The results of repeated experiments in this research have shown that with this imaging system, a more accurate diagnosis of abnormal area depends on the location of the sources and detectors. Therefore, an optimal location model has bee...

Introduction: Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) is an imaging method in which light source and detector are installed on the head; consequently, re-emission of light from human skin contains information about cerebral hemodynamic alteration. The spatial probability distribution profile of photons penetrating tissue at a source spot, scattering into the tissue, and being released at ...
